Night Diving Certificate


The tuition of individual 1 Star and higher qualified divers to obtain additional knowledge on safe and competent ways of planning, preparing and performing night dives safely.


  • To attend the Night Diver Course
  • Must be at least 14 years old.
  • Prior to participating in any practical training, the student must submit a medical certificate clearing the holder fit to participate in the sport of underwater diving. A medical practitioner, using the CMAS-ISA Sport Diver medical examination form, must have carried out the medical examination not more than 12 months previously.
  • Must hold a CMAS-ISA 1 Star Sport diver certificate or approved recognised equivalent certificate. A minimum of 15 additional dives must have been logged since qualification (at least 2 of these dives must have been performed within two weeks prior to the course).
  • To write the Night Diver examination:
    - Must attend a Night Diver course overseen by at least an in-date Two Star Instructor (Course Convenor)
    - To apply for the Night Diving Certificate.
    - Must pass the theory examination as set by a panel of Instructors, or as set by CMAS-ISA. A pass mark of 65% is compulsory.
    - Must attend two practical sessions.


Parts 5 & 6 must be completed on the same course. Failing which parts 5 and 6 must be re-done. The above-mentioned prerequisites are the minimum required for the CMAS-ISA Night Diver Certificate.
